The Old Age or Antiquity was the period of history that unfolded from the invention of writing (4000 BC to 3500 BC) until the fall of the Western Roman Empire (476 AD) and the beginning of the Middle Ages (5th century).

In this time period, we find that the so-called ancient civilizations, who know writing, coexist with other civilizations, writing about them (Protohistory).

Different peoples developed in the Old Age, including the civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, the classical civilizations such as Greece and Rome, the Persians, the Hebrews, the Phoenicians, as well as the Celts, Etruscans, Slavs, German peoples (Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Anglos, Saxons,) among others.

Antiquity was a very important period of history, because at that time began the formation of states constituted with a certain degree of nationality, territories and organization more complex than other cities found before this period of history.
